Job Description

Meisel Holdings Managed Services is a hotel owner & management company with a diverse portfolio in the Key West, Florida Market is seeking an energetic, service-oriented, and results-driven General Manager for the diverse portfolio. We are looking for a motivated individual who has a passion for the hospitality industry and embraces integrity, service, empowerment, ambition, and teamwork.

The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operation, including improving financial performance, operational and financial controls, ensuring optimal guest satisfaction scores, and developing and retaining strong management and hourly associate team. 


Functions of the General Manager include:

  • Establish cost & quality standards, maximize profits, develop and retain employees while exceeding guest expectations
  • Manage all sources of revenue, the overall responsibility of rooms, housekeeping, beverage, and engineering
  • Ensure all departments are profitable and foster strong working relationships
  • Allocate funds, authorize expenses, and assist in budget and forecasting, planning development, recommend, implement and manage the hotel's annual and long-term operation, sales and marketing, capital, revenue, expense, and profit goals to meet/exceed owner management expectations. Develop organization prospects by studying organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancements
  • Maintain accurate records including cash flow sheet, direct bill accounts, credit card receipts, registration cards, reservation cards, and credit cards, condo association expenses as well as individual unit owner expenses
  • Oversees, manages, and directs all Human Resources of the hotel to attract, retain and motivate the associates; determining accountabilities, communicating and enforcing values, policies and procedures; implement recruitment and selection strategies; train, develop, empower, coach, and counsel, conduct performance and salary appraisals, planning and reviewing job contributions and compensation strategies.
  • Lead team in development and implementation of Resort-wide strategies
  • Maintain the property in first-class condition; protect, secure, and enhance the assets as appropriate.
  • Ensure adherence to hotel policies and established operating procedures while meeting or exceeding guest expectations by providing a safe, secure, & quality experience
  • Assist with sales and marketing efforts as needed
  • Participate in community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and promote a good image, thus fostering future growth.

Job requirement

Qualified candidates will have at least five years of General Manager Experience in Upscale/Luxury hotels of similar size and caliber. Must have proven ability to identify revenue enhancement opportunities and be skilled in sound fiscal management practices. Must have excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to motivate the workforce at all levels.

Marc MeiselCEOMr. Marc Meisel started his career in the early 1990’s in the parking business creating WorldWide Parking. He grew the company to be the largest on-street parking privatization company with operations in the United States, Poland, Turkey, Mexico, Brazil and South Korea. Since 1995 he has served as CEO, COO, President and Board Member of several Meisel Holdings operating companies. His entrepreneurship and vision has led to an array of businesses from technology startups to brick and motor real estate development and investment. He has been involved in virtually all facets of commercial real estate and hotel development, investment, management and financing. Mr. Meisel has additionally been involved in the banking industry and has held positions on several banking committees as well as served as a board of director. Mr. Meisel oversees overall operations, strategic planning, marketing and development for Meisel Holdings.
Joel S. MeiselManaging PartnerMr. Joel Meisel began his real estate career in 1962. He initially operated residential construction companies under the names American Home Builders and Meisel Construction Company. In the early 1960s, his primary focus was on building housing subdivisions. In 1967, Mr. Meisel and Barry Cohen formed Meisel and Cohen Properties, a commercial real estate investment and management firm dedicated to developing commercial properties in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. He has an extensive involvement in all aspects of commercial real estate development, investment, management, leasing and financing. Mr. Meisel has developed a portfolio of office buildings, retail centers, marinas and hotel properties as well as industrial and research and development centers. Mr. Meisel's professional experience extends to the Baltimore-Washington region's banking industry where he has served as founding member, shareholder, director and chairman of the board for several local and regional banks.
Marlene PattonFinancial AnalystMs. Patton has been a financial analyst for Meisel Holdings since 1976. Her primary responsibilities include performing financial analysis and creating operational budgets and forecasts for all operational real estate properties including resort hotels, restaurants, marinas and mobile home park activities.
Steve WilsonDirector of Development and ConstructionMr. Wilson joined Meisel Holdings in 1985 and is responsible for the development of new commercial and residential projects as well as major renovations. He directs all aspects of general contracting, job planning, review and execution of consultant contracts, budget development, cost tracking, scheduling and overall project management. Mr. Wilson's experience spans the development of award winning exclusive high-end residential communities to the planning and construction of commercial office, industrial and retail parks as well as limited and full-service hotels.
Robert D. H. WilsonDirector of Marina OperationsMr. Wilson has been the Director of Marina Operations for the Meisel Holdings-managed marina properties since joining the company in 1981. He is responsible for the overall management of marina policies, regulations, budgets, operations, training, maintenance, expansion, short and long range planning, marketing and other administrative/supervisory activities of the marinas and related facilities.
Jim HeinemanDirector of Hospitality OperationsMr. Heineman is Meisel Holdings Director of Hospitality Operations. He is responsible for overseeing overall operations and management of the company’s hotels and advising the development and project teams on operations and feasibility matters. He has three decades of experience in the hotel industry, and has held strategic and tactical senior leadership management roles both in hotel management/ownership and in the real estate development industry. He has been the General Manager at a wide variety of branded and boutique hotels, including the Parsippany Hilton in New Jersey, The Roosevelt Hotel in New York and the Algonquin Hotel in New York.
